Choosing Your Taste at Central Food

It appears that Jalan KH Agus Salim has got a lot of places to eat, from the food stalls to the restaurants. There are places that serves just one kind of dish, there are also places that serves various kinds.

Central Food, a food stall at Jalan KH Agus Salim no.49, Central Jakarta; serves various kinds of Indonesian ethnic food. The menus are divided into 10 stands, and the prices are about 10,000 to 35,000 Indonesian Rupiahs (IDR). You can come to the food stall between 11am and 9pm, and only closes on Sundays.

The food stall aims at office workers as their consumers. So, you more often see people wearing ties and neat long sleeved shirts in the food stall, the place is also kept clean.

There are about 5 big sized fans, to make circulation of air run smoothly, thus making the place a lot cooler. As result, the room which can accommodate 50 guests is pleasant to eat in. Central Food food stall does not accept credit cards.

One of the stand which is worth trying is one that serves various kinds of dishes with sheep (sheep is “kambing” in Indonesian), such as “nasi goreng kambing”, “tongseng kambing”, “sate kambing”, and “gulai kambing”.

“Nasi goreng kambing” is consist of white rice that is fried with frying oil mixed with margarine, soy sauce, and minced meet. The result is a taste that is sweet and a little chilli.

The “tongseng kambing” is grilled minced meat with garvy that consists of slices of cabbages and pepper. If you don`t like chilli flavour then you can order the one that is not added with pepper.

“Gulai kambing” is similar to the “tongseng kambing”, the difference is that the gravy is made of grated coconut mixed with milk.

Center Food does have 10 stands, but don’t get confused on how to order or to pay. To order, you can just sit in any chair you want, and soon after, an attendant will come for your order. After eating, you can just ask for the bill to one of the attendants, and he will give you it within five minutes.

The activity at Jalan KH Agus Salim has made the food stalls and restaurants there crowded, and amongst the crowd, Center Food has become a favourite.
